THE TIMES Wednesday, April 26, 1922 STATUE OF "CIVIC VIRTUE" IS READY TO BE UNVEILED Lansing plant will have a capacity of 200 rJrant four cylinder cars and 400 Star cars daily. The original plant of Durant Motor Company of Michigan, completed last November, said to be one of the finest In the country, was designed to provide for possible future expansion. -Thus It Is comparatively a simple matter to build the additions now under way without interfering ; with the present production schedule. A new two story wing 600 feet by 100 feet is being added to the main structure and an open space 600 feet by 200 feet, Is being enclosed with a roof, thus adding 210,000 square feet of floor space. Mr. Downes stated that contracts had been signed with the Auto Body Company of Lansing for the manufacture of all open-car bodies requires for the Star models built at Lansing. This it Is understood will bring practically all former employes of the Auto Body Company back to work. It was also intimated that Durant requirements probable would bring to Lansing a closed body plant in which the Durant Company would be indirectly interested. Mr. Downes stated that the proposed production schedule, after the completion of the additions now under construction, would add several thousand men to the Durant factory payroll in Lansing. home on Ridge Road and Hobman street. Mr. and Mrs. K. P. Lomasney and children of Chicago, spent the week end 'at the home of their uncle, H. F. Kaske. Oliver Kraay. who built a nice new house on Ridge Road, is moving his family from Chicago, this week, to their new home here Carl Stallbohm of Eau Claire. Wisconsin, is visiting here for a few days. J. Kuhlman moved his family to Hammond Monday where they erected a new house on Monroe street. Mr. and Mrs. Cordua of Hammond were here on Sunday. Our teachers of the public school spent Saturday and Sunday at Hammond attending the teacher's institute. The Dyer Juniors will tlay a Chi cago Heights team on Sunday at Dyer. The Bunco Party and Candy Social held by the. Dyer Juniors on Sunday was a success.
