As it concerns us all, entitled Your City's what you make it. Most of you that are hefe today. May be classed as pioneers, For our city Just came on the map In less than sixteen years. For no one dreamed those early days The value of this land. It looked like It was worthless. With swamps and miles of sand. But the factories saw its 'value And started buying1 ground; After all you must admit. It's the factories make tlie towns. For man will find his way to where His chance to work is griven. Especially to the place where he Can earn an honeet living-. Though some would live in Taradise With one exclusive race. But the money that they're making nere Helps to beautify the place. Kt now we talk of houlevards. And plan our city Parks, It's like music to the ears of those Who have lived here from the start. For. although our city may not have The things that you admired. We know how hard the work" has been j To get what we've acquired. i They've kicked and knocked ' j And held us hack. I They tried to keep us down. Yet our city's just as (rood As tne others all around. But everybody has his day: We've been waiting; you to come; Tou who know what lKins; is, If you will, can help, us some. So jump in. 1 a Booster, Work some on your own, Let's be for East Chicago,' And be proud to call it Home. Don't try to do it all yourself As some have done before. Just GET TOGETHER, WOHK TOGETHER, Just flg-ure you're one more. One of the kind, that's not a KNOCKER, If you're RIGHT, be sure and state it. Remember after afl. our City's Only WHAT TOU MAKE IT. NOW POLICE START Chicago Authorities "Want; to Jinow Sometnmg of Night Life at Cards. f INTERNATIONAL NEWS SERVICE CHICAGO, March SO An investigation into the uature of the card game in the apartment of Mrs. JutIan Magden, where twelve guests were robbed of between $9,000 and ' $10,000 in cash and jewelry last night, was launched by the police today. The admission of Mrs. Magdtn that she "has played at twenty or more homes where the limit was tl and sometimes $2 in small po'ker games, and where manicurists, widows and divorcees were the most frequent women players, may cause a general investigation into the "apaatment night life" on the north side. A telephone call which Mrs. Magden believed was from one of those "invited" to her home last night, served as a cue to the robbers. They made their appearance shortly after 10 o'clock and fleeced the "guests" of their valuables after lining thena up against the wall. The police are particularly anxious to know just how it was that the robbers who made the raid could have Picked this one flat out of' thousands on the north side. They alio are attempting to uncover the nature of the game and whether or not there was any "rakeoff."
