NOTICE. The members of Whiting1 Lodge, 613, F. & A. M., attending lodge in Chicago Monday evening, March 21st, will go by auto from the lodge rooms at G:30 sharp. Mrs. Charles Cook has returned to her homo on Laporta avenue from the St. Bernard's hospital where she underwent an operation several days ago. She is getting along very nicely. Estelle Abbott of Cleveland avenue. Jo confined to her home with a light case of measles. The Mother's Club will meet at the home of Mrs. Ralph Thrush of 1254 Atchison avenue. Miss.Keeler will be present and answer questions the mothers have concerning their babies. Mrs. Coo and Mrs. Jennings will assist tho hostess. The meeting will begin at 7;30 p. in. Th Pythian Sisters will hold their regular meeting this evening. The members of the degree staff are reQuested to be present. Charles Shorts of Pennsylvania ave., who has been confined to his home with Influenza, will leave soon for Franklin, Penn., to recuperate for a few weeks. The A. O. H. are having an entertainment and dance for their families ana friends In tho high school auditorium. Th Ladles of the Christian church will serve a supper in the church basement on next Tuesday evening. Mrs. George Roe was the recipient of surprise party given by twenty-ight of her friends In honor of her birthday anniversary. The afternoon was spent In playing bunco. Miss Florence Ivy and Mrs. Hammer were awarded the prizes. A delightful luncheon was then served.
Mrs. Edward O'Hara of Chicago, spent yesterday visiting her daughter Mrs. Charles Chant of Cleveland ave. Jean, the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Tharp of Laporte avenue. Is ill with the measles. Mrs. Wm. Aldie of East Side, 111., entertained the members of the Sigma Delta Chi Sorority at her home wher5 a most enjoyable evening was passed. The choir of the Christian church are having a party in the church parlors this evening. David Purlnton of Central avenue, was called to Chicago yesterday by the serious illness of his sister, who is 111 with pneumonia1. Mr. and Mrs. George Roe of Fischrupp avenue epent today visiting with the latter's cousin "from Harvey, who recently underwent a serious operation in St. Joseph's .hospital in Blue Island. 111. Mrs. Henry of John street, entertained the Get-To-Gather Club at her home on Thursday afternoon. The prizes were won by: First Mrs. Kodiced; second. Mrs. D. Johnson and consolation prize by Mrs. Wm. Shade. Dainty refreshments were served and a good time was passed by all who were there. The Rebekah meeting which was held last Wednesday evening was well attended by Indiana liarbor and East Chicago guests. Initiation, lunca and a very good time was had. Mrs. George GIrard of Sheridan ave. is again confined to her home by illness The friends of Mr. and Mrs. "Walter Whltwer of Gry, formerly of this city will be sorry to hear that Mr. Whitwer is confined to his home with a badly Injured foot and that their children are quite ill. The W. B. A. held their meeting on Welnesday and entertained tho Maccabees with an interesting play entitled "The Art Shop." The Wm. Fuller family were called ot Chesterton, Ind. yesterday by the
death of Mr. Fuller's mother. Illness In the Morton Trout home has made it necessary to change the meeting place of the History and Literature Section of the Fortnightly Club on Monday evening March 20, to the public library auditorium instead of the Trout home on Pennsylvania avenue.

Eggers of Lake avenue, surprised her husband on his birthday Tuesday evening, by inviting a large number of gentlemen friends to help celebrate the occasion. The men enJoyd themselves in their usual way, and a very fine lunch was served by Mrs. Eggers. Mrs. Lane of Myrtle avenue who has been confined to her home for the rast two weeks by illness is slowly improvign. The Eastern Stars are entertaining at a Silver Tea at the home of Mrs. Thomas Eaton of Sheridan avenue on Tuesday afternoon, March 21st. Mrs. Alice Payne of Myrtle avenue, is confined to her home with a very severe cold. Mrs. Grlndle of Atchison avenue was hostess, to the Loyal Woman's Class on Tuesday evening. After the class meeting a social hour was enjoyed and refreshments were served. A surprise party by a large number of her friends was tendered Mrs. Owen McNealey at her home on Indianapolis Blvd., last Tuesday evening. Mrs William Broderick of Atchison avenue is entertaining her sister and baby who are visiting here from Cuba. Mrs. Fred Leverenz and daughter Adeline of Myrtle avenue spent a day at the home of her daughter Mrs. Sam Cunningham of Indiana Harbor. The Cunninghams until recently lived at the East Side, having now purchased a beautiful new home at the Harbor.

When the photographer reached her home Mrs. Moore was darning her husband's golf stockings. She was formerly Katherine Perry, a, "Follies' girl.

Mr. Amos Cooper and lady friend, of Cleveland, were placed under arrest upon their arrival here Wednesday and taken to Crown Point. The police of this place had been notified by Ohio authorities to be on the look-out for the couple. They had eloped with intentions of being married, but when arrested they had not been married yet They came here to spend a few days at the home of Mr. Cooper's parents, who reside at this place. Mrs. Ruth Mackey entertained the Five Hundred Club and the Priscllla Club Thursday afternoon to cards at the Gary Country Club. Mr. Clayton Keilman Is on the sick list. Mrs. Grace Hartnup who has been seriously 111 durins the past few weeks Is much improved Miss Lucille Meyers, chairman of the Woman's League of Hammond will address the voters of this community at the Ainsworth school building today. Mrs. Small has returned frim a weeks visit with relatives in Chicago. Mrs. Mayme Fleck returned yesterday from a few days visit with relatives in Chicago. Sparks from the chimney of the Killigrew residence on Main street lodged in the shinges on the roof yesterday afternoon and burned a hole afacut 1? feet square through the roof. The fire was DUt out before much damage was done.

The fact that James Weinand, 34. owner of an extensive ranch In Liberty, Saskatchewan, Canada, was robbed and murdered in Chicago and his body hidden In a shed, was established today through Charles Weinar.d, a brother of the victim.
