The opening session will bring together the general committeen but the main work will be later carried on by subcommittees, four from the side of the operators and four or five from the mine workers. On the eve 'of the sessions, friendliness prevails. This does not indicate that the conferences 'will not be spirited. Presentation of the miners' demands for an. Increase of , 20 per cent in wages Is very apt to brins from the operators the flat statement that they are not present to discuss increases.
