Mr. Sutherland was a Mason and a large number of his brother Masons attended, they having charge of the runeraL Mr. Sutherland leaves besides his widow, three children, Mrs. William Smith, o. Kobertsdale; Mrs. Chas. Newell, of Kokomo, Ind., and Warner Sutherland who Uvea at home with his mother. Mr Sutherland's death waa a great ahock to his family and to the community who extend their heartfelt sympathy to th bereaved family. Interment took place at Oak, Hill cemetery in Hammond with undertakers Griesle and Truley in Newall and brother Daniel, Jr.. of Kokomo, Ind., were here to attend the funeral of iEr. Sutherland, father-in-law to the former. W. R. C- of Whiting will meet in regular session on Saturday evening ai which time all member are urged to be present. Mrs. Fred Peterson aud son of Amy Hveoue visited her mother at Hammonu on Tuesday. Mrs. Edward Kttmm of Superior ave. has been ailing for the past few days with very severe -s.-jH. Mrs. Walter Kiekenapp of Stanton avenue spent the day with relatives at Bast Side. Mrs. G. McClure of East Chicago, and Miss Violet Breckman of Atchison ave. attended a theatre in Chicago last evening. Mrs. John Northrup and children of Chicago spent everal days visiting her mother Mrs. Alice Payne of Myrtle ave. Mrs. William Smith of Pearl street, was taken to the South Shore hospital in Chicago on Wednesday morning, her condition being very serious t this time. Mrs. W. Porter who has been on the sick list for some time is recovering nicely. Mrs. Druke Johneon entertained tho "Get-to-gether Bunco Club" at her home on Thursday evening In honor of her birthday anniversary. Guests numbering twenty were present who enjoyed a most wonderful evening In playing Bunco, after which the most delicious luncheon was served. Mrs. C. W. Smith of Gary, waa the honored out of town guest. Mrs. R. Kohr and Mrs. O. Todd were Joint hostesses to the Ladles' Bible Class which met at the Todd home last evening with a good number present. The class work which was very interesting was followed by a social hour and the serving of dainty refreshments. Mrs. George Goldlng of Lake avenue entertained a few relatives in honor of her little son Robert Henry" first birthday anniversary on Wednesday afternoon. A five o'clock luncheon was served with three birthday cakes with only one nttTe candle on each which held the center of the table. Little Robert received many pretty gifts in remembrance of the day.

WASHINGTON, D. C. March Since W. C Durant announced three weeks igo that he would produce a four-cylin-Jer. Ave pasaenger automobile to Bell at 348, the country has awaited its showing, anticipating the possibility of some ihing out of the ordinary in motor car production. Tho car la here. It was ntroduced to the public today in a Connecticut avenue showroom, with a complete line cf Durant models as a background. It is a conventional type automobile, with recognized standard parte. From semi-eliptic springs to vacuum feed jrasoline tank and electrical equipment, a is a type of motor car that confirms the early conjecture. It does startle the industry. Mr. Durant arrived here early this Tiorning. coming with a party of his friends and associates in a special Pullman which left New York last night, to he present at the new car's showing. "The new product is to be known as the Starr car," sai l Mr. Durant. "It Is to be manufactured by Durant Motors, Inc., under a contract with the Starr Motor Car Company, which will control th distribution of the car in

the United States and Its possessions."
