DOWNSTATE LAWYERS ARE OBJECTING

Opposition to the bill before congress to create another feral court in Indiana, Is being- voiced by many lea-Jir.f? attorneys of the state, according- to the following dippatch fronj Indianapolis:

1NPIASATOL1S, lnd., Feb. S. ir other federal judfres would spend u. little time as Judgre A. Anderson spends in writing- "long involved directs of law" tbeic would be Irat-- need lor the formation of more federal courts, in

the opinion of William I. Taylor, Indianapolis lawyer. Mr. TayloV has'ap- ( reared before judiciary committees of I the congress to protest against the proposed creation of an additional federal court district in Indiana, and he is opposed to the proposal to establish another federal court at South Uend. In a letter sent to Representative Merrill Moores, Mr. Taylor fays:

I thank you for copy of the new court bill of Indiana. There is absolute ly. no reason in the v odd w hy such a bill should lx.'1-oine a Kw, except to create new ofilcea, to add unnecessary expense to the Rovernmcnt. As you know, Judpe Anderson is one of the foremost federal judges in the country, both in ability to master cases and in his celerit.v in disposing of ows. He has teeTi on the bench nearly twenty years and hay not written s to exceed one-half dozen opinion.-! in all that tune. Quick Ceclslona Rendered. Drudgery

For years to come the "EASY" will merit a woman's full appreciation through the hours of washday drudgery that it saves. The ''EASY" differs from the usual washing machine because it washes by means of air prersui'e and suction. It eliminates the rub and drag that wears and tears the clothes. Two revolving vacuum cups go up and down 60 times per minute and flush the water directly through the meshes of the garments clean them quickly and thoroughly without danger to the most delicate fabrics. ra.sea. as many federal judg-es do, he devotes his attention to the mastery of j '-aeea before and at the trial, so th.it ' when they are once tried, they are ali moat always immediately decided. If the federal Judges throughout the country would cease writing- long Involved digests of law, which generally present no new question and seem to be written largely for the purpose of being difptayed in the Federal Reporter, there would not be a long line untried cases that crowd certain district courts .throughout the United State?.

I have appeared before two Judiciary committees of the house at Washington to protest ajrainst tha creation of a new district in Indiana and in both cases the congress refused to pass tr e bill. The present bill outrht to be defeated, for there is absolutely no necessity whatever for anoth-r district In this state If the committee desires the opinion of the district attorney or district JudRis, or dr-sires facts from the clerk of district court, I will be very plad to furn

ish any data that may be required by the committee to show the absolute lack of necessity for the paasage of this bill. Case Speeded Tp Vy court The Idea of another district does not meet with the approval of many lawyers who frequently apear la cases before Judge Andert-jon. "It is ridiculous to talk of Judg-o Anderson's court betrg po crowded as to require relief," a, prominent lawyer said today. "It Is well known amons; us who practice rejrularly in this court that Judsra Anderson almost invariably permits us to Bet our own time for all hearing-s. Cases are never crowded out of their turn on the docket, and very often trials axe speeded up through the efforts of Judge Anderson. If there were another federal court In the state Judge Anderson could take a six months' vacation each year without Interference with the docket." As proof that another court would be useful to give more office aeekern Jobs., Frederick VanXuys, former district attorney, on retiring from office

pointed to the fact that the criminal docket had been cleared of all cases that could be brought to trial. No cases of wide Importance are on the docket lor trial, he said.
