The East Chicago basketball team scored another factory last night when they trimmed the Gary Hornet's 65 to 61. While the East Chicago boys claim to be inbetter shape than & fortnight go, when troty started their victorious career and were only winning by a few points it ia believed that last night's game was the softest the E. C,'s had had the plesure of taking. Next Saturday the East Chicago club has scheduled a return game with the Whiting Owls. And then Tuesday, February 7, comes the real game the match with the Chicago Big Five. May 13 Date Set for Kentucky Derby LOUISVILLE, Feb. 1. The fortyeighth annual renewal of the Kentucky derby, the racing classic of western tracks for three-year-olds, will be ran at Churchill Downs here Saturday. May 13. The race will Scarry $50,000 added money, but changed rules will increase the winner's purse. Nomination for the race will be closed February 21. Second money will reduced from 10,000 to $6,000 third money from $5,000 to $3,000 and fourth money from $2,000 to $1,000, thereby adding $7,000 to the purse. The starting fee has been increased from $250 to $500. Behave Yourself. E. R. Bradley's crack colt, won the race last year by a head from his stable mate Black Servant HAMMOND BOWLING LEAGUE SCORES Monday night at McCool's bowling alleys the Perrins and the McCool's bowling teams were battling for first place. the McCools were leading by two games, so the Ferrirus had to win all three to go into first place. Just as the match was about ready to start word came that Ned Kelson the demon pin smasher for the Perrins was taken stick and could not bowl so Capt. Enright was wondering how he could at the McCools when some one suggested the manager, none other than our old friend Sugar so the match was on. The first game was won by Per rins shooting 593 and came within 6 pins of breakling the high team score If Stevo Szymonski keeps hitting the pins the way he hit them the last two weeks he will be after Lipinski and Jack Pollard. The second and third game was won by the Perrins putting them in first place. The MB Boot lost two games to the Schloers each sums was lost by two pins. CHICAGO, Feb. 1. Hogs versus dancing as adjuncts of golf clubs came into the discussion at the meeting of the greens committee of the United States Golf Associaand the hogs won. favor among the delegates. J. T. BEAT CITY OFFICIALS Last night at MoCools bowling alleys the Bankers from the First Trust and Savings Bank took on the mond city officials In a match of three games, total pins to count. In the first game Schonert who was leading off for the city official gave the halls on the rack the once over, picked up one to his liking and after taking aim throwed the ball down the gutter. That is where he claimed the alleys ought to be a little wider. Alderman Seliger said Vie would take that up at the next meeting. After having a special ball brought to the alleys for Arnold Kunert he couldn't get. over the century mark and had to be satisfied with a score of 83 in the 1st game. while Rae was high man with a 155 and Joe Todd with a 143. Ebert was the heavy man for the Bankers, getting a 170 pins in the first game and a 194 the second game. Right here is where the officials took after the Bankers. Todd shot 176 and Konert came back strong and shot 149. Seliger began to loosen up a little and knocked down 161 pin. After losing the first two game the officials made a desrperate fight to put the last game over but that game went the same way as the others and the final score was a follows: BANKERS.
