The Menace Fiat tires have become so common a thing, motorists have come to recognize this menace is a necessary evil. At a time when most ot all, you want to gel to work on time there's the tire flat as a pancake. Then there's the scramble to make the change and you arrive, at the office or factory thirty to fifty minutes late, witli a day practical!)' spoiled for you. Iliis menace of punctures and blowouts confronts you constantly, no matter where you are or where you are going, not only piling up costs in time and material, but actually discouraging judicious and continued use of your machine or trucks. The "Key --may be found in knowing how to prolong the life of your tires, accepting the usual wear and tear of every day travel. The secret has been discovered by the Guarantee Tire and Rubber Company who have just
uened their plant to the
motoring public. Their's is a process of retreading old casings that have been thrown into the
scrap heap. T Tiis process is
entirely unlike the retreading that has heretofore been done. The Guarantee Tire and Rubber company use nothing but the highest grade rubber, regardless of the quality of the casing; this rubber is then steam cured, the heat being regulated by a thermostat, which insures uniform temperatuj. so necessary in proper curing.
The Causes There are several contributing causes to this problem of tire depreciation and its subsequent costs and handicaps. There are few if anv well kr .own tires that will not give a reasonable amount of service provided projer core and attention is given them, ilie strictest tire economy will not permit of the investment m cheap tires for they render you only cheap service you get out of them less than you pay in. Road conditions present another problem in tire depreciation and this condition in a large measure is up to the driver of the m?clunc. If he rides the glass, The bumps and the corners p.'Il mell he can reasonably expect depncation from the best tires.
Many say it is not worth the time and effort to exercise such " scrupulous care with tires and solong as this principle is adhered to tire depreciation will continue. But if you recognize the importance of keeping your machine going "on all four ad keeping each one of the four well shod, including the "spare," you have solved one of the biggest problems in automobile, cost and will have turned what is now a more or less loss to you, into an investment. Just how to do this presents the next problem, former methods of vulcanizing :.-nd retreading send more tires and tubes to the cemeterv than anv other cause.
.1 rTm
Probl
em
Under intejnse pressure the rubber during the curing process secures such a tenacious hold to the casing there's no pulling apart. So thorough and exact is this process the Guarantee lire and Rubber company phace an unqualified guarantee 0:1 every job. Retreading and vulcanizing done by this new steam process is as datable, if not more so, than the original tire. Ihis .process saves the motorist at least fifty per cent on tires, as he can use his casing several times and it is possible to secure treble and quadruple the former mileage, while the cost is re-
f.ftv per cent in
duced more
The finished job, as turned out by the Guarantee Tire and Rubber Company is as handsome and as thorough as anv new tire could be. Iheir plant is fully equipped with the newest machinery and it is said there arc only two other plants that are handling work of this character, they being located in Chicago. S'.nce locating here the Guarantee Tire and Rubber Company has already contracted for the work of many of the big factories, aswell as many well known professional, business men and individuals, To acquaint the pubhe. with their methods, the company is extendig a general invitation to visit the plant at inv time.
