E. CHICAGO NEGRO SHOT TO DEATH
The East CWiago police are scouring the district today in an effort to locate an unknown nero, who shot Dave Brakeene. (col.-red), at his home. 3589 Block avenue. Indiana Harbor, late last night. This morning Brakeene died in Cue St. Margaret's hospital, lUmmohS, s a result of the shooting. The injured man when taken to Ir. Teetrardeu's office, early this morning, e-t'.d that he mu setting- in his kitchen leading the ev.nin.tr paper and that a strange man walked into the room, and without a ord tired at him five times, 11 of the bullets taking effect. Brakeene said when the man shot a him, he Jumped through the window sn-.t ran. The police found Brakeene in front of the Wauhinpton hotel on Block avenue, where he had fell exhausted after escapingthe murderer. What might have leen the reason of the shooting, the police are still at a loss to learn. Xo statement from Brakeene before hhs death this morning fca-s been able to clear the mystery shooting.
