WHITING BOYS
ACCUSED OF ROBBERY
tIITl(i. Ind.. Nov. 21.The case of five boys charKcd with entering: the Kozacik Hardware storo on liOth street, the l'yimond's Five and Ten ( rnt Sturu on 13th street, and the Julius Hoppo I'aper and Supply company 422 119th street, came up before the Juvenile Court at Crown I'oint and was dispose' of as follows: Joseph Katch of Schrnce avenue, was compelled to pay the Kozacik Hardware company ?n 00 as his ehare of the plunder taken and $10.00 to Julius Hoppe for the damage done there. Julius Smith of Hobertsdale, was im.l.ised with sim
ilar duties, paying- $13.00 to Kozacik and 110.00 to Hoppe. George Knysh was compelled to pay the Diamond Five and Ten Cen store $10.00 for hia share of damajre done and goods taken. He was parolled to his 2J-year-old brother. Alfred Hohman, 13 years old, was returned to the Reform School from which he was parolled about a year ago. William Ilohman. ape 11 years, his young broth-
er, was parolled to his uncle, Fred Opperman at Knox, Ind., with a promise to the Judge that he will be a better boy and attend school regularly. Behind the story of these erring youngsters lies a lesson for other wayward boys and girls as well. Mr. Ilohman. a widower, taking the part of mother and father, trying as he could to keep his boys on the straight and narrow path, was so grief stricken
when he learned of his sons escapade that he was "unable to face the situation after all his efforts to keep them right and knowing there was no alternative, he went home from work one morning and drank carbolic acid. If children undertaking these unlawful ventures would stop to think of th mental anguish it causes their parents, they would in many cases refrain from wrong doinsr.
