With more quails In tre fields In eastern Indian, than at any time In more than ten years, practically none im toeing shot by hunters Many farmers have an agreement among themselves to permit nobody to hunt upon their lands for quails and the great majority of hunters, even without this prohibition, refuse to f)r upon th birds when given the opportunity. The value of quails as Insect destroyers la the main reason for farmers refusing to permit their feeing killed. On some farms are coveys of quails that are nearly as tame as chlokens. Rabbits also are more plentiful this year than in many seasons and are being slaughtered by thousands without apparently decreasing the number. Rabbit hunters south of Muncle, ner Cowan, killed a number of teal ducks last week along a wide dlth, the fowls having alighted there In large numbers on their way southward from the northern lakes. DeFOREST REPEATS DeForest won his second match of the handicap pocket billiard tournament at the Be parlors last night when he defeated Dugan. 80 to 4.
