Attorney Abe Otten helmer. a member of the election board, appeared for himself and Tom Kichards, the city clerk. The third moniVcr of the board, Karl Norris. was represented by Attorney l'arks. Attorney Oltenhcimer and Mr. Klchirila were the rnajjrity members of the board who passed the motUni giving the name and emblem of the Citizens" party to lidward W. Wickey and John Keenan. IFl,li:.MKll HI HKPPA. In his statement to the court. Attorney l'arks said that he w ould be able to show that Ottenheime-r and Kichards were influenced by John K. Ittppa in giving the prefc-renoa of party name to Wickey and that Mr. Callahan can establish a prior claim to the name. Attorney l'arks declared that the action of the election board constituted a hindrance to tho free expression of this will of the voters. Attorney Frir.k Gavit of Gary as-fostii-g Attorney I'ai ks, denounced the elfctlon board's action as a "political trick." Attorney Allen P. Twyman, candidate for city Judge on Mr. Callahan's ticket, said at least sixty per cent of the voters of the city of East Chicago were supporting Mr. Callahan's candidacy. M IC K BY JOB SI'.KIvKK. Attorney l'arks charged that Wickey had sent emissaries to Frank Callahan, signifying that he would withdraw hia name from the ballot in return for certain promises. BETZ COMPANY SUED. Paul Phillips, who says he was hired oa manager of tho production In the pharmaceutical department of the F. S. Beta Co., plant. In Hammond, la suing tho company for salary and commission which he iys is due. on lila contract. His complaint, tiled this morning. In the Hammond Superior court, states that he entered into a contract with the company last February by which he was to hold the position during 1921. Ho says he vao discharged wRh-y.it cause October '20. Under the contract he was to nccive $ln a week and live per c'nt. bonus on the net profit of the department.
