Mrs. W. IT. Myern, chairman of the republican women of the city, sffcled today that the suspension of meetings of the Republican Woman's Club until after election was a measure to facilitate the -work of tretting the vote to the 1k11s November 8. "The Republican Woman's Club I largely a pleasure organization," snid Mrs. Myers. "It was deemed advisable to adjourn its meetings until after election so that the women could ' devote themselves to working in their respective wards for the purpose of ettiiiir a bifT vote to the polls on electron day. There wa.s no other reason for the action and I do not want it to be misinterpreted." Charles Iyer Is to speak tonight at a republican rally in the Columbia school and tomorrow night at K. of P. hall Charles Surprise will deliver a talk, the burden of which will be that Hammond is above reproach morally. This is the first political speech Mr. Surprise has ever made. He was actuated by the attacks made upon the fair name of the city and has decided to take the stump to defend the town.
