Travels Over 7,000 Miles in Year and a Half. Eight times around th earth in IS months! Nearly 4.000 miles m month! On hundred and thirty mllea a day! "Who does that, you ask? A traveling salesman? Kope. A preacher. To. be specific, the Rev. C J. Sharp of Hanjmond. Xot only Is he the fastest movtns man In Hammond, but he has established a world's record for his pro
fession. Heretofore clergyman have been satisfied to man about every two years and that kept, them broke, but "C. J." has revolutionized the preaehng business. Mr. Sharp was at h? office this forenoon between trips, tawing Just returned after 7, BOO miles of travel in the western states and Canada. He leaves this week on another trip, stopping- first in Nebraska. It Is Sharp's own idea which he has named "KJroup Evangelism." He has been speaking before state church conventions In about forty states the past year and organising evangelistic work throughout the country. As pallor of the First Christian church of Hammond, Sharp conceived the idea of having his congregation organize anpthr church In the district.

Sept. 29 Politics having had 1U inning and the "Insurgents' headed by Alex He-xat and yank Farrlngton having been repudiated by the convention, representatives of the- United Mine "Workers, settled down today for action on 6uch important economic questions as wages and nationalization of the mines. John L. Lewis, international president who has won the backing of the majority of the union delegates, has placed himself on record as favoring delay In formulation of a number wage scale until February. Numerous resolutions demanding Increased pay for miners are before the convention. Lewis also Is urging that no action further than endorsement of the policy of government' ownership or control of the coal mines being taken on the nationalization issue at this time. The convention today voted to cut the salaries of fnternatlcnal officials of the union. The Cleveland convention had granted a 27 per cent increase, but the officials ITSv.e been receiving I&.000 making the. raise seventy per cent. Lewis In his report, had urged that the 70 per cent increase be allowed to stand but the convention voted overwhelmingly to confine" the raise to 27 per cent.
