Matron; Mrs. 1'orothy Saunders Conductress; Mrs. Cora Eaton, Associate Conductress; Mrs. Enola Payne. Chaplain; Mrs. Carrie Wilson. Secretary Mrs. Blanche Tauer. Marshal!; Mrs. Blanche Braley. Treasurer; Mrs. Bcsif Black. Warder; William Stover, Sentinel. The Chaplain presented the acting Worthy Matron, Mrs. Mary Hay. with a sterling silver .spoon and the acting Patron Alex Vincent, with linen handkerchiefs. The past officers presented the pre.ent Worthy Matron, Mrs. Nellie Jenkins and the present Worthy Patron. Mr. Thiessen, with linen handkerchiefs. There were several interesting speeches by the officers and menvbers, following which Mr;-. Prochaska rendered a group of songs. The social time also included the scrv ing of refreshments. Mrs. Owen McN'eally underwent a very serious operation for appendicitis at the Washington Park hospital in Chicago, but is getting along nicely now. Mr. Ray Walker of Sheridan avenue, will entertain the St. Joseph's G-iiid tomorrow. Rev. Father Julian Szryprinski, of St. Adalbert's parish has arrived in New York fnom a several months European trip. The members of the church will have a banquet in his honor upon "his arrival in Whiting. The Plymouth Aid Society will have a vupper in the Congregational church p'arlors from 5 to 7 o'clock tonight. The Old Settlers will have the first meeting of the year in the Slovak Dom on next Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Griffith have returned from a week's honeymoon which they spent at Rogers Park. in. Mr. and Mrs. Griffith will -reside with Mrs. Griffith 3 folks, Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Cole on 4433 Magoun avenue. East Chicago. ' Joe Bellan, cx-police officer, was fined $1.00 and costs in the city court on Tuesday. Bellan went into Steve Candish's place at 120th street and Indiana Boulevard and representing himself to be a Federal officer attempted to raid the place. He was arrested by officers Tewell and Avaronl. He paid the $11.00 fine. Andrew Grovatch. arrested for being drunk, was fined $5.00 and costs and upon the charge of carrying concealed weapons, he having brass knuckles in his possession, was fined $25 and costs.

Master Hubert Kulage had the misfortune of breaking hij arm in three places Wednesday. Mrs. F. Cooper of Stoney Island is visiting at the home of her daughter. Mrs. C. Klausen. Mr. Wm. Ellington was a Valpo visitor Wednesday. A Nuptial Mass was held Wednesday morning at St. Bridget's Catholic church at 9 o'clock when Chas. M. McIntyre and Miss Helen E. Thyne were united in marriage. The bride's sister Miss Josephine Thyne acted as the bridesmaid and John Thyne was best man. The bride was attired in white taffeta and carried a bouquet of pink roses. Rev. Joseph Lynn officiated. The young couple will live in the Guyer fiats on Third street and they have the best wishes of their many friends. Edward Melton had the misfortune of stepping on a rusty nail and now has1 to go about on crutches. The town board held their regular meting on Tuesday evening and appointed E. Guyer, John Fleck, Don Shannon and Chas. Klaussen on the election board for the coming city election.
