PROPOSES A GAME PRESERVE t INTERNATIONAL NEWS SERVICE1 INDIANAPOLIS. IND., Sept. 21 Richard Lleber, director of the state conservation department, has proposed that the state keepmeander land, nearly 7,000 acres along the Kankakee river in St. JoseptU LaPorte and Starke counties for use as a gams preserve. Ditch assessments averaging about $S an acre against the land are due, and William G. Oliver, state auditor, has proposed selling the land to raise money to pay the assessments. S ANTE FE, N. MEX., Sept. 21 Senator IJ. O. Kursum, republican, has been elected United tates Senator from New Mexico over R. H. Hanna, democrat, according to partial returns today from 15 of the 31 counties in the' state. Indications are that Bursum will have a plurality of approximately 7,000. Meager returns show that he Vias polled a heavy vote in several normally democratic strongholds.
