INPIANAPOIJS. Sept. 20. Instructions were ent to county auditors today by Jsese E. Efschbach. chief examiner of the state board of accounts. oncerning- tha payment of election officials for the special constitutional amendment election. "Payment of inspector. Judge anil cleric at the special election held Sept. 6," said Mr. Eachbach. "is governed by the primary election law, which fixes the pay of such officials at $3 per day. Lincoln Highway near Merrillvilie Examined by the State Director. INDIANA rOUS, Sept. 20. Lawrence Lyons, director of the state hinhway department went to Crown Point Saturday, tu look Into complaints which have reached the department about the paving being done on the Lincoln Iitphway near Uerrlllville by the Federal 1'aving Company. The Lake County Farm Bureau has complained to the department that the contractor in not putting sufficient cement Into the concrete mixture forming the surface i I the road. Mr. Lyons said that both state and federal inspectors have been on the job and he said he believes tha contractor is doiuK the work properly. Mr. Lyons Raid that the department will grade about three miles of the Dunes Highway, near Gary on the Gary-Michigan City state road, this fall. It is Intended to put a hard surface on the road next year. Sometime ago it was said in the department that no work would be done on the, road this year but later arrangements have changed this first Intention.
