Ruth Sets New Home Run Record With 55 NEW YORK, Sept. 16 Babe Ruth the mightiest swatter of bapeball. set a new world's home run record here this afternoon when he drove out his lifty-llfth home run of the season in the first game FY a double header with the St. L.ouls Browns. The home run came in .e fifth Inning with one man on base. Bayne was pitching for the Browns. Bob Meusel, slugging Tankee outfielder, also hit a homv run in the third inn?ng of the game with two men on base. It was his twentythird homer of the season.
