( TA I ftV V W I.IKKD. Hammond's first chautauqua met with high favor last night in the, -t-forts f the Mutuil-Mnrgan Circuit to entertain the public. "The Big- Urown Tf nt" drew a goodly number of Humniond's representatives, and an evening spiced with divers entertainment iva accepted plea-surably. The Crivf n Family. consisting of Mr. Craven and his four daughters, have- been doing chautauqua orchestral work for a numb, r of years. They offered an unusually pood program in th way of n-ral splendid rohcstral numbers, with piano, clari-r..-t. violin, trumpet and trap. Seldom has a more versatile family been presented to the. enterprising public. Mr. Craven, who is a violinist, seemed content to let his daughters monopoliie the centre of the stage. The young ladles were plea-plnar In two quartettes, pome dialect readings that nere typical, several vocal solos, trump" solo and an xcellent xylophone number by the youngest artist, who ha been on the- stage since she was nine years old. Mr. Craven s own version of "The Ito.sary" was given on five sapohones. and then there was a l.rtle bit of Jazz that had real gingtr in tt. Tonight another good program Is coffered in the. Dixie Jubilee Singers, who crie highly recommended. These people, who know the Kood old-
time melodies, and probably some new ones too. will doubtless met t with the commendation of their audience.
