Word from Hull at 6:35 o'clock said that so far as known, four men had made their escape from the airship by clinging to parachutes. Relief parties set out to find them and get their story of the disaster and its cause. Contradictory reports were received as to the number of parachutes that left the ZR-2. According to one re port three men were seen clinging to one parachute. One wounded man was picked up near the Humber and was rushed to ihe hospital. The disaster upset all the elaborate plans of the United States navy department, which had bought the ZR-2 from the British admiralty. The test flight was to have been the last. A wireless message from the ZR-2 during the morning said the ship had made a most successful journey j and would soon land at Puiham.
