Before a monster crowd which attended the Elks picnic held at Whiting park, the Whiting Elks fortified by Melvia and Williams cepped a hard fought game from the Royal Order of Bums, a picked team from the army of unemployed. The game was a pitching battle from the first Inning until the ninth when Moore's defense weakened and the Elks romped away with the bacon. Each pitcher had only seven hits nicked off his delivery and Moore. the Bum's twirler had ltven strikeouts t " his credit while Mel via whiffed nine men . The feature of the. game was the

slugging of Johnny Feeney and the fielding of Jimmy his kid brother. Going Into the ninth Inning the score was 3 all. Following two out Harmon of the Bums walked for the third time, stole second and crossed the plate on Walcsko s double. Following Walcsko's double Johnny Feeney drove a triple to deep center but was left on base when Moore rolled to the Infield for the third out.
