OPENING OF STOCK MARKET
INTERNATIONAL NEWS StK-rCEJ NEW YORK, Aug. 8. There was a good deal of conjecture In Wall street as to the sources of selling and basis for the suddenly developed weakness which caused sharp declines in many
atocka during the early trading. In some quarters it was insisted that the bulk of selling represented a renewal of bear raids the time being regarded as opportune for bearish demonstration because t6cks sold this morning did not need to be delivered until Monday and bear traders expected to have fine opportunities fo rcoverlng In tomorrow's dealings. There were some issues, however, in which there was evidence of liquidation, among them being Invincible oil which yielded 34 polnta to the new low record of 6, followed by a quick rally to 7. Oil stocks generally were heavy. Middle States Oil falling to 11 and Texas C. was down to 25 and Mex. Pete, yielded 1 to 105 and Pan Amer. Pete, was down 24 to 474. The steel Industrials after early recessions developed a harder tone and were in good demand when lowpr levels were established. IT. S. Steel
after falling to 74 moved up to 74 and Baldwin- rallied to 78.
