Despite - th Industrial depression and the recent building tradea lockout, 1321 promises to be one of Hammond's banner years In building. Including Che half million dollar school building prcgrram, the aggregate cost of the, building operations to date this year la $1,860,464. For the first six months of the year the total building as shown by the records In the office of BuildinR Commissioner Henry Vis was $1,206, S10 as egainst $1,120,464 for the cu'espnoding period of 1920 which was the greatest building year in the city's history. More money was invested in buildings the first six months of this year than was spent in 1914. 1315, 1315 and 1317 or any year previous to 1314. SEIZE BEER AND TRUCK DRIVER MICHIGAN CITY. Ind.. August 4. Chief of police Haller and Detective Schioma seized the driver of a truck and a case of beer at the rear of the Sheets place on north Franklin street. Neb., when hit by a freight train. He was on his way to California in search of employment, when the accident occurred. He la a son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bozar and was well known.
