(National Crop Improvement Service.) AFTER a good many years of all sorts of experimentation, it baa been learned that stucco will stick to the outside walls ot a boue positively when held by a reinforced triangular mesh galvanized wire fabric. There is no other method which is dependable. Wood will swell and shrink and moreover will crack along the corners where the work has not been continuous. i There may be some objections lo the appearance of stucco made from certain kinds of dull colored cement, but nowadays the' coloring of plaster and cement both in the mixture and in coatings, will give any desired tint, and moreover the life of the cement is prolonged by the use of these coatings as they are waterproof, shedding rain on the surface and preventing it from striking through, which used to be the case in some stucco work. The strength of the house is much enhanced by making a continuous job around the corners and when properly done, the house will never again need painting to preserve it, although in specifiailly described as follows: Commencing at a point In Deal street from the center line of 140th street to and connecting with a 15 Inch sewer in said Deal street near the south line Of 139th street, taid sewer shall be constructed of vitrified tile pipe 12 inches in Internal diameter.. Said sewer with all appurtenarTces shall be constructed in accordance with the profiles, plans and detailed Specifications and maps on file in the office or the Board of Public Works of aaid city1 of East Chicago, Indiana. smoky neighborhood where the exterior may become dingy, cement colorcan always b again applied. Wonderful effects can be made in pebble-dash, in elastic finishes and ia crashed granite and marble. Repairs about the house whenever a porch has given out or cornice has rotted, may be made by covering the new work with stucco and the effect is always good. Moreover it is not necessary to take off the weather boarding of an old house because the steel fabric can be nailed on and plastered, saving a great deal of mess to say nothing of the labor. A good stucco house is practically everlasting and there havir.g been so many beautiful homes constructed In this manner, illustrated in the architectural magazines, there is no excuse for having an ugly house. It eosta no more to build stucco artistically than it does to use it in a careless, unattractive way. If you don't like your housa it is always possible to transform it with stucco.
