MOTOR TRAFFIC SIGNS PLACED

150 Hats Values to $20 3 Great Groups

IN COUNTY I

And, too, you will find many of our Pattern Hats, such as the famous "Andrea", "Consello" and others.

Special slg'ns warning motor traffic which have been erected In various sec tions of Lake county by the Lake coun ty branch of the Hoosier State Automobile Asaociation are only a. part of the protective work being done for the automobile owners of Indiana by the state association, according to a statement Issued by Dick Schaaf, who l. g-eneral chairman for the Lake county branch of the association "Trail markings and danger signs will be found all over the state," according to A. S. Hess, special danger signs and warning signs are bing erected west or Gary, and have already been put upon Whiting and other centers In this county, and the work Is constantly being extended. '"What we need now," declared Mr. Schaaf's statement, "is the co-operation of motorists in this vicinity. We are providing emergency road service, free tow-in, free d' llvcjy for gasoline, free mechanical first aid and such service to our members in the Lake county vicinity. Besides thosu members are also members of the. American Automobile Association and as such are entitled to service and courtesy in larger cities nearly as well as in 1.000 cities where A. A. A. clubs are situated. The first duty of Lake county motorists is to show thir loyalty to their home state, affiliate with the association that is providing the protective lrgtslation, and wear the Ifoosler State emblem on their radiators. It is worth just as much in .Chicago as any other emblem.

"We are doing a lot of work now and this work Is steadily growing. As our memberships Increase our work grows apace in fact the work, always goes on ahead of the memberships. But the point is, closer affiliation of automobile owners in this section will result in greater good to them. If you are inclined to be selfish, that is the rjest reason you should affiliate with this

organization. AVe help you to look out for your own best interests much better than you can help yourself. "I wonder If motorists who do not belong to the association ever think as to the costs of the public work we are doing and wonder who pays? They know it is not costing them a solitary cent, yet they are deriving some of the benefits. This is not right; they are willing to admit we are doing a good work and they should be willing to cooperate with us so we can do a much greater work. That's the story in a nutshell and I put it rtght up to the automobile owners hereabouts. Get In with the Hoositer state and let's all holp pay for the progressive work being done." Mr. Schaaf announces that touring information service will soon he available at Crown Point, Hammond. Gary, Indiana Harbor and Whiting. The heaci quarters of the association are in Indianapolis, with eight branches in the state. "Kventually. no member in Indiana will be farther away from free emergency road service than is sparest telephone,' declared Mr. Schaaf.
