Tax Revision Legislation Pushing Its Way Into The Foreground.

BT A. O. HATWARD

STAFF CORREJPONDIWT I. X. SERVICE WASHINGTON. July 20 The tariff question was almost a dead issue in the house today with tax revision rushing its way Into the foreground. The Pordney tariff bill" wilt pass the house tomorrow, probably with unbroken support. The fate'of the bill, with Its new schemes of taxation embodied in the American valuation, the wool schedule and extensive use of bargain' Ing clauses to gain preferential trade agreements with foreign countries, now rests with the senate. Import duties in the bill are high. The Mil was drawn. Chairman Fordney told the house, to restrict Importations. Many house republicans will vote for passage of the. bil with complete faith in senate reduction of Fordney rates. With passage of the tariff bill the house does not anticipate a let up In work or a rest. The ways and means committee plans ta hold hearings on the tax revision legislation beginning Tuesday next and closing Saturday.

July 30. The first week in August will be devoted by the committee in framing the tax revision bill. Comittee

leaders promise the bill will be repor

ted to the house before August 10.

Bills covering legislative policies will

be presented from the military affairs. Indian affairs and agricultural committees 'of the house.

After passage of the tax revision bill the house will take a vacation, lasting

until the senate has completed its work on either the tax or the tariff bill.

All during these years 1 did not know what it was to sit down to the table and eat what 1 wanted.- 1 actually was afraid to eat the things 1 eravod, as I k-new I would have to go through hours of misery afterwards. "The first thing Tanlac did far me was to give me an appetite and then

It toned up my stomach s that no matter what I ate I digested it perfectly.

As soon as ray stomach got allright my other troubles entirely disappeared and now I am feeling better than I have In years. If Tanlac had made me over new from the crown of my head to the soles of my feet I couldn't be a different man now from what I was a short time ago. It certainly dots the work. The Asahl and other Japanese newspapers agree with the statement carried by the N'lppon Dempo News agency which said: '"Japan is satisfied with the American attitude. Try a "Times Want Ad'

IT is in caring for the needs of its patrons, be they big or little, which stamps the Standard Oil Company (Indiana) as a service organization of the first order. Whether the product be a major one, as for instance, gasoline, or one of the highly refined motor oils, or a secondary one; such as Standard Road Oil, facilities have been provided by which the patron, where ever he may live, may get what he wants with as little delay as possible, and at a minimum of expense. For many years Standard Road Oil has been used by communities and individuals in providing a semi-hard surface to highways. Roads sp treated are dust! ess, are not so easily affected by rains, and carry a heavier load with less power than is possible where plain dirt roads, however well cared for, are used. Recently it has been apparent that many want to use this dust preventive on the roads about their homes. Some need but a single barrel; others two or three, but these small amounts they want badly. As soon as it became apparent that there was a demand for Standard Road Oil in small quantities, the Company assigned to this product a sufficient number of iron barrels to care for the trade. These barrels are not sold but are used merely to transport the oil; to be returned as soon as they can be emptied. By thus cooperating with its patrons, the Company can furnish small quantities of Standard Road Oil at a minimum price, and the user can get it in quantities of one barrel, or a thousand barrels, without having to pay for the container. This is but one of the many ways in which the highly specialized organization of the Standard Oil Company (Indiana) serves the public, individually and collectively, to the profit of alL
