Mr. and Mrs. William Street of Michigan avenue have taken a furnished apartment in Chicago preparatory to leaving for the east. The L. A. t,. Club will enjoy an outing in the form of beach party at Whiting Park on Thursday evening. A card party and ice cream social given by the ladies of St. Patricks church Tuesday evening. July 12. was largely attended and netted a nice sum for the church fund. The winners of the 500 prizes were the Messrs. McDonough, Rcddinger. Walpohl and John McGuan, Miss Gertrude Mulliern and Nell McAulcy. Rev. F. Maples who ls keeping bachelors hall during July, entertained W. A. Twenty of these boys were hold-overs from last period ami an the last reriod wtnt off with a snap this period has started off with the same kind of pace and apparently is going to surpass the first period so far as results are concerned. The emblems on the Indian belts awarded last period were vt-ry attractive due to the handiwork of Mr. Miller and Mr. Southard of the staff. If you see a boy with Indian emblems on a canvas btlt you may bo assured that he has been to Camp Vanaansic and has done some woith while thlriea to earn those emblems. The new member of the staff. Mr. Kdward O. Sou; hard has just compl-t-d his third year at. the I'niversity of Illinois. He -was assistant athletic director at the college, and had seen a. year and a half as air pilot. He is very popular with the boys, handling calisthenics, formations, etc. The boys this week are sure having & treat, due. to an unexpected visitor. This visitor is Mi. Stephen R. L. Foster of Chicago. Mr. Foster is an explorer, guide and lecturer havinir spent fifteen years in the Intertior of Alaska. He is an expert on woodcraft, campcraft and nature stuty, having been & representative of the United States government during his service in Alaska.
