Occasionally,' however, ticifi! waves occur in one or more of the lakes, due to atmospheric conditions, such as great dlf -ences Jn atmospheric pressure and the prevalence Of gales.

Ray Schmidt's home run In the tenth inning broke up the Giant-Dodger battle and the slipping Giants slipped a bit further. The Tigers grabbed a brace of victories off Chicago long enough to please 20.000 by losing to the Pirates in an exhibition game. With Moore pitching nice bail the tail end Mackmen routed the Indians in the first game of their series in th forest city. Joe Oeschger held the Reds In chcK while the Braves hammered Donohue, Marquard and Napier. Twenty hits off George Smith enabled the Cards to wallop the Phillies.
