ONE ERROR FOUND IN 0. S. 'HAMMOND SLACKER LIST

Hanvmond's lift of alleged slackers nd exmy deserters was made public , toiy t the V.rar Department and preparations are bein made by the American Iegioc and arious officials to check over the list and see if any of them can be apprehended. One situation has already been found in which it appears an error was committed. The list contains the name of Kred Paul Weluueyer, 444 Summer st. Information which haa been gleaned hurriedly reveals that Wehmeyer served in the army. He waa killed by a train after returning to Hammond nearly three year ago. His widow married Albert Schultz a year ago and now reside at Jday and Carroll sU. It is possible that, other mistaken have also been made, and peryus who have been thus offended should not hesitate to tet themselves right as patriotic organizations have promised to "make It hot'' for any persons listed who can be located. As an example of the fact that the government means business, a carload of prisoners waa taken through Hammond Thursday on the Nickel i'late railroad. They were draft evaders, or welters a they are now termed, headed for the. federal prison at .Leavenworth, Kan. PA Kit DOAHD MEETING. The members of the park board will meet at the Washington Park house, Indiana Harbor, tonight at S o'clock to take up the question of boulevard lighting system along Guthrie.

COUNCIL TO MEET. There will be a meeting of the common council tonight at s o'clock. The regular meetings of the council are the first and third Mondays of each month, but on account of the Fourth of July, the meeting was set for tonight.

REDICED LABOR RATES. An official announcement was made today that the Interstate Iron & Steel company, of East Chicago. has reduced their common labor rate from 35 cents per hour to 30 cents, effective July 4. 1921. It ls understood that an equitable adjustment of wage rates and salaries throughout the plant is to be made. This plant is now working ten and twelve hours a day.
