Happy Couple Will Be Entertained in East and Cruise on St. Lawrence During Honeymoon. Father Shewbncge officiatng. Only the immediate families and a few friends were at the wedding. Miss Anna Boyd, tester cf the bride acted as bridesmaid and Charles M. Hick of Chicago acted tor the groom. After the ceremony, there was a wedding breakfast for the immediate, wedding party at the, Conjnss hotel. ' f the groom, being drici-n to the depot in Col. Walter J. Ril-y's car after a glorious lot of good-byes. They will also be guest3 at Newport for several days. The major portion of the honeymoon however win be a cruise on the S. S. St. George from Vew York to Halifax through the Bay of Newfoundland stopping at Queb.c ond Montreal for visits and down me Ft. Lawrence. Upon their return to Hammond ha couple will occupy the T. E. Boll apartments In 'he LoM-;mar building for the summer. The bride is a charming Chicago girl who has trailed extensively and lived in California.

The Ladies' Auxiliary of the American Legion met Thursday evening, June 21. in room 3 of the Superior court house. A ve:y interesting business meeting followed. Mrs. W . F. Howat, the auxiliary's secretary, presented a check for $110. proceeds of the great candy and poppie sale, in May during the Ltgion's minstrel show. She deserves great credit in her management in making- the candy and poppies. A rising vote of thanks was extended to her. This fund goes into the treasury for the benefit of soldiers and their families who are in need. Another way of making mon'-y for our needy soldier boys was suggested by Mrs-. Leary, our president. But on account of so many of the members leaving for over the Fourth the idea was abandoned until a lat? r date. The next meeting will be held in September owing to the extreme heat. A lar? membership is expected in the fall.

The members of the Loyal Service class of the First M. E. church met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Whitezel last evening. After a short business meeting which was called by the president. Mrs. Samuel McCall. Games and music were, enojyed, the evening concluding with 'refreshments. There were short talks by different members of the class including one ty Mr. whitezel the teacher. Arrangements were made for a picnic in the r.ar future. There were S6 members present who enjoyed a very pleasant evening . Born to Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Gerke, a son. June 17. 1921. Both mother and baby doing nicely. Mrs. Gerke will be remembered as Rose Eder.

Mrs. B. w. Chidlaw and mother Mrs. O'Toole. have returned from a several weeks visit with relatives and friends in Lexington, Ky., and Cincinnati .

Marjory Ruff has returned from Milwaukee where she visited a week at the conclusion of her school year at Madison University.

A son has been born to Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hermes, formerly of Hammond now of Riverside, Call. Mr. Hermes will be remembered by many in Hammond, he was connected with the Laderach Bros, jewelry ftore for a number of years.

The monthly social meeting of the Pine St. Presbyterian church will meet at the home, of Mrs. Harry Rice of 4 73 Hoffman street tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock. All of the ladies of the church are invited.

The Hammond Trust and Savings Bank are having a beach party tonight at Lake Front park.

The League of Women Voters will meet in room No. 3 of the superior court house tomorrow evening. There is business of importance and all members are requested to be prtttnt.

The marriage of Miss Garth Rosalee Watson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Watson of Corydon, Ky., to Dr. Wade Dowden Rogers, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Rogers of Bloomington, Ind.. was solemnized Saturday morning, June 25th. at the First M. E. church cf Hammond, the. Rev. Rist officiating. The bride wore an organdy dress with a hat to correspond and carried brides roses. Misti Edith Oden acted a-s brides maid and wore a blue organdy with a blue hat and carried delicate pink roses. Tne groom was attended by Dr. Paul s. Richards. The couple left imm ed la t ely for a short trip. On their return they will be at home to their friends at 13 Muenich court.

It is said that this rlay is filled with thrilis and high lights momenta which hold the audience spellbound. Miss Traverse is supported by Howard Scott. Jack Rollens, Ben Deely. Edwm Booth Tilton. Genevieve Blinn, Eleanor Hancock, Correan Kirkham and Frank Whitson. Henry Clifford Colwell wrote the story, the scenario was by Deriison Clift. and the picture was directed by Howard M. Mitchell.

Photograph of Representative Alice Robertson of Oklahoma presid ing over congress. For the first time in the history of the American congress a woman has presided over the house of representatives. Miss Alice Robertson of Oklahoma, the only woman in the house this term, has the distinction of being the woman to make that bit of history. She was recently appointed by Speaker pro tern Walsh to preside anc she occupied the chair for a half her.

The first major attraction will be the raffling off of a Ford car. Tickets will be sold by the ladies, and a $'10 cash prize has been offered for the lady who sells the largest number of chances. The other event will be a base ball gam" between the Scatena Colts. Hammond's fast aggregation, and a team from Hobart whi-h is said to be one of the. be?; in the county. This game should be a fast, and interesting contest, as both teams have beaten some of the be,st in their class. Other events which are planned are races of ail kinds, from the inevitable three legged contest to the hundred yard dah. and a bicycle race. Other field events will be staged. In ail. the affair promises to be wel worth while ad a monster crowd Is expected to attend. Consessions win be placed ail over the park, and things to eat and drink will be cn sale.

LEMEZIS SUES FOR $10,000 DAMAGES Suit for damages for the "death of Anthony Lenv-zis was filed today against, the H , W. & E C. Street Ry. Co.. in the superior court at Hammond. The plaintiff is John Szlota. administrator of the estate of Lemezis. The complaint states that Lemezis was walking along Indianapolis boulevard, in Hammond, on the night of May 30, 1&20. and that a street car came from the west striking him and killing him instantly. It is alleged that the car had no headlight and gave no warning of its approach. The estate is demanding $10,000 damages. McAleer, Dorsey & Gillett are attorneys for the plaintiff.
