The law was written and pushed by the. lloosier State Auto As s'n to stop the commercialized theft of vehicle?. No motor vehicle may be so. J without a proper transfer of the certificate of title. The thief won't luv tins certificate if the legal owner keeps it in a safe place as he would a deed to his home. A H AT TO DO 1. The vehicle owner must correctly fill out all blanks on the first paf?e of the large questionnaire. Llnsine and serial numbers mini be correct. 2. Correcty fill out blanks on reverse side, uinj; o. 1 if car wae purchased new; space No 'Z if car was purchased second hand. 3. Go to authorized dealer for your particular make of vehicle and get his assistance. If he has no notary he can Instruct you where to pet notary service. In every county seat certain dealers or others .vithorlzed to act for the secretary f .-'late. The law provides that any notary may administer the oath, but the notary must be satisfied that facts jiiv.ri m the blanks are correct. 4. Fill ccut the smaller blank referring to the container for the registration receipt. Do not confuse, this with certificate, of title which will bo sent you from secretary of state's office. The receipt yo-u got when you obtainei your license plate will go into the container which must be In the driver's section of the vehicle. This merely shows you have legally registered your vehicle. Where motor number or senai number has been effaced or Altered or Is missing special application for permission to stamp on an assigned number roust be made, on a special blank to be obtained form authorized registrars or from the secretary of state's office. 6.
