PEOPLE
Wants Them Named Now
Editor Times Honesty Is the best pcllcy has been a. trite and true Baying for many years. Why then should not candidates for public offica be honest with the people-? Our candidates for mayor ra- 'hey have, not made any promise?; but few very few believe, such ftatsmems. No candidate was ever successful ;n n hot political battle unless h? made premises to the political workers as to how the pie was gninj to b distributed in the event of his ejection. Why then should our candidates for mayor not come out openly and nam? their cabinet choices now? Tell the people who will be city comptroller, chief of police, board of works, an.) a'l important appointments to b filled. Kumoi-3 that can not be downed already have these places parcelled out and In ome cases these rumors indicate, secret deals that are not a credit to the candidates and may ! them many votes and whi';e ari open confession is good for the sou!. I aiso believe an open publvc statemeut of who will get the various city Job would gain many votes for the candidate who has honesty and courage enough to try it. I admit it would be a complete reversal of the way politics are usually conducted, but believe H would make & hit with the women volr who desire honest and clean politics as well as a clean city administration. Both candidates ay they will take tha police out of politics, but the dope en prospective chiefs does not jc'.va any topes that they will either one do it. Tell the. public now whom you will appoint on safety -board and chief then everybody will know whether you are taking tfc. police out of politics or tot. Select g"Ood men or women for all places, get their agreement to accept and then come out openly and announce yur choice and I am convinced that "Honesty will gret the votes." Till doctrine may seem radical to some, but I am not a socialist, I. vv. W. or anything- except a plain American citizen, who would like to pee an honest an-1 clean administration for the city, but cot being- moon-eyed I can not fee tn the dark and hope the candidates wi'l hare the courage to rome out openiv with the promises that 90 per cent of the people are convinced have been made secretly and tell us who will get toe plums. AS TO NEW MACHINES No new license will be issued unless accompanied by an application for Certificate of Title. Purchasers who come into possession of motor vehicles after this act goes into effect must have title from the seller and a new Certificate of Title within five days or be subject to a fine, PRESENT CAR OWNERS Present motor vehicle owners must also apply for a Certificate of Title. Car owners whose engine numbers are now erased are required to apply for a special engine number. MUST DISPLAY TITLE CONTAINER The Secretary of State, if he finds the applicant is the lawful owner of the car, motor truck or motorcycle, will issue a Certificate of Title and a metal container, which must be attached in the car so that it is in plain view. SERVICE AT THIS BANK The Secretary of State is mailing application blanks to all present car owners. These blanks must be acknowledged before a notary public. You can do that at this bank.
