BULL DOGS AND PROWLERS Hyde Park Bull Dogs won their first game this season by defeating the Prowlers yesterday afternoon. The score was 12 to 7. Xewland wno pitched the last four innings for the Bull Dogs struck out 9 men.
A GOOD BAD GAME (BY CRITIC.) The Junior Moose played monkey to the organ of the "Whiting Colts. Their dance and capering was to the temno of 18-5 with an extremely heavily sounding time beater in the form of extra base clouts. The resonant whang of "Whiting's hickory against the hosshide was as regular against Borneo's offerings as it was against Edgars shoots, only Edgar f. It more generous, he had the geev-ums. He doled out five free tickets to the Colts. This, coupled with some extremely novical play by the antlered hurks and some extraordinary horseshoe circumstances favoring the Oily crew, proved as good an example of what the fans do not (jp.sire the losing fans, of course as could be rendered by a team with a large following and a good name. One good word may be said of the Moose, they staged a beautiful exhibition of cross-country running, me garden men proving more long-winded than their infolding brethren. And it also appeared as though certain Moose players had more e'gotism than ability, the way th"y tried their luck at various positions and failed to display any symptoms of the rabit foot's benevolent charm. All in all, the brand of ball put up by the fraternal boys was as loose as the brains of a blue Sunday faciaticist. Mike Eudnick of the Colt pitched a
nice game, but the way he grooved them and the way th Moose missed them caused a heartche In the breast of several good ball players present. In addition to all this the way the large crowd hogged the baselines and their surroundings completed a perfect picture of amatuerlshness. Better baseball than was rendered by the Moose last Sunday must be given In the future, else they might as well gt out the ole mothoals and hang up their baseball togs for the season.

GOLF HOBBY OF SPEEDWAY
DRIVER
SPECIAL TO THE TIMES1 INDIANAPOLIS. Ind., May 18. The youngest member of the Puesenberg racing team which will compete In the International 500-mile race to be held at tho Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Monday, May 30, is James A. Murphy, better known as "Jimmy" and captain of the quadron. Murphy was born in San Francisco in 1895 and started racing in 1918 as a mechanic for that consistent performer, the late Eddie ODonnell. Bacing has always bee nan ambition with Murphy and when he was a mere youth ho had dreams of being a speed king. Golf Is his hobby off the track but his favorite sport is baseball. He is one of the very few drivers particularly interested in the national pastime, but he .can hardly wait to get the morning papers to see "who won the games." You can get an argument out of him any time. This is unusual too when one considers that he born and reared in California out of Bight of big league baseball. "Seeing Eddie Hearne driving with his hat off" is the funniest thing Murphy has ever seen about a race course he says. You see, Eddie does not possess an abundance of thatch on his cranium and it is rather amusing to see him give his dome a sun bath.
Jimmy has no intention of giving
up racing, he says, admits that racing
la profitable and knows no fear in a
race. He prefers the Eos Angeles speed
way to any other and his reason is
"because I have had most of my success there." In fact his biggest racing thrill was winning the last race
held at- Los Angeles. Handball is Mur
phy's training vehicle and he plays
a lot of It.
The population of the foreign colony
at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
where the International 500-mile race will be held on Monday, May 30, has increased today with the arrival of
Andre Boillot, Bene Thomas and sev eral mechanics. Louis Coatalen, man
aging director of the Sunbeam Motor
Company of England and Darlo Kesta
and Albert Guyot will soon be here.
