COM UC'il STCX XVSSTirHXSJB It la the fondest Imagination tn the w-orld to suppose that I can either commit sin unobserved or conceal it aftT commission; for let the privacy I effect be never so close, atlU It is is not toaaible to shut out. or run away from, my own conscience. This will be sure to bear me company, and it always carries about with it all I have ever laid up there, whether it be good or whether it b r-X There la no trustee to be oomSre with this for fidelity and punctual eaitng. Whatever Is deposited in its cvimtodr In tn safe hands. It keeps It for taa man aa long as he lives and r.-ill be aure to pay down I full tale at the day Of death. If I do amisw, this is prosont with me: If I do well and feel a sntlsfaction In It, that resentment provns that conscience la with me and marks my behavior. It never parts with me in his world, and it will follow me into the neat; and wrreaoeve.r I am, according to the quality of what I trust it with, it never fails to nnproaoli and to ame. or else to command and ealt me. Thus there Is not only an evidence of m judgment but even the thin itself, tn the breast of every one of us. We risve no need to look abroad" for justice. 1nce God haa erected a tribunal at home, and so ordered the mattr that those of a man 'a own household should go through the whole process upn him; for here are informers and witnpespn jndgea and executioners. 'When I break the Isw, my conscience accuses me. mv memory tentlfles against me, my reason try and Judges roe; sensual pleasure is my trlon. fear my executioner and sinful delectation my penalty. For In proportion to the delights which accompanied the sin. the torments are multiplied and heightened in the punishment xAnd God is Just ajid wise In ordnlnfng that our sins should prove our punishments and that the pleasures of sin and the pains w feel for them should both spring out of the same root. A LAST APPEAL As an eleventh hour appeal to the building tradesmen of Hammond to accept the proposed cut In wage and prevent the lockout which will otherwise become effective tonight. the Building Trades .Employers association has a full page ad in Tho Times today explaining t!ie matter from their view point. O They show that other lines of labor have accepted wage reductions and that because of the high cost of labor,
construction work is being held up and these very tradesmen are being forced
to pay higher rentals. Comparisons of food prices are also shown.
AT THE PARTHENON "Gee. she sure is a game sport!" Thlj was the unanimous opinion voiced by Henry King, director, the
cameramen, assistants and property
men who stood about watching Paulino Frederick, B.o'bf rtson-Cole star, make a perilous climb over treacherous cliffs several hundred feet tn height above a foaming sea. Miss Frederick made this climb for an episode In her new Robertson-Cole fr.ipei-special production. "The Mistress of Shenstone." adapted from Florence Barclay's famous novel of the same name, which opens at the Parthenon theater tomorrow. Although Director King was anxious to use a "double" for these scenes instead of risking the life of his star. MUm Fred-

THE SATISFACTION OF HAYING PURE CLEAN WATER
Few communities in Indiana have the advantage of a water supply that is purified in the most modern way known to science. Yet that is one of the advantages of the City of East Chicago, which now possesses a $500,000 water fikeration plant. There is a lot of satisfaction in knowing that the water which runs from the hydrant is pure and wholesome. When the water comes from Lake Michigan it goes through a complex process to purify it. Then it is scientifically treated to bring about elimination of all deleterious germ life. Enjoy your drinking water, for it is wholesome. There is no better promoter of good health than flushing the human system with plenty of pure drinking water. And you may use the water here, knowing that it has been rendered pure, sweet and potable by the wizardy of science.
