BANDIT KILLS GARY STOREKEEPER
Gary's crime wave took a toll of one more life last night. The ictim In Frank Jevickl store owner, at 2277 Madison street. It was while Jevickl and his wife were pitting: in the kitchen In the rear of the store, planning to close up for the tiay that two masked bandits entered by the front door. Frltfhtt ned at the mask over the bandits faces, Mrs. JeMcki jravo the alarm to hrr husband and they both ran to the bed room, the bandits following close at their heels. As Jevlcki was reaching for a revolver, one of the bandits drew his gun and fired point blank at his victim. The two bandits escaped following- the shooting- and although a cordon of police were thrown around the entire neighborhood, thsy escaped and had not been arrested up to a late hour today. Friday and Saturday nights. May 19. 10 and 21. Unusually elaborate scenic settings and costumes are used in this scene, which opens with big Spanish dance done by a chorus of 16 young ladies and eig-ht young; men. Into this scene ganders Clarence Wildwave, an ex-floor walker In a department store, played by Kenneth Mauek. When the absence of the regular bull fiffhter is discovered, the exfloor walker Is persuaded to enter the ring- In his place. The ensuing encounter with the bull furnishes one of the most screamingly funny bits of comedy ever seen on a local stage. Comedy alo predominates In the monologue done by Alex Kobb. a director of the Joe Bren Production, company, which is again staging the show for the legion. Itobb has appeared in several shows staged by the Bren company here, and Is well known to Hammond audiences. Harold Gliles, another director of the Bren company, who will be remembered for h!. clever comedy in the last American Legion show, will again appear, and Is eStpected to score a bigger hit than last year. The reserved seat sale will begin Monday morning. May 16. at 9 o'clock at the Parthenon theater tox office, at which time the advance tickets now being sold must be exchanged for reserved seats. LAWRENCE LYONS GETS NEW JOB INDIANAPOLIS. Ind., May 12 The state highway commission has accepted the resignation of L, H. Wright as director of the commission and appointed Iawrence Lyons of Brook In his stead. Lyons was a campaign manager for Gov. McCray. Wright has been a center of attack for a long period and his resignation was forced by Gov. McCray.
