County Clerk Herbert Wheat on ha received copies of the act of the last legislature which fixed a closed season for black bass and blue gills and he Is trying to have all Lake county sportsmen informed of this now restriction which becomes effective Saturday. The law reads that "whoever shall catch, kill or pursue any small-month black baas, large-mouth black bass or blue gill In the waters of the state from the SOth day cf April to the 16th day of June in tho same year, or whoever has In possession any smallmouth black bass, largemouth black bass or blue gill caught or killed in the waters of the state during the period above named, shall be deemed guilty cf a misdemeanor." The act provides a fne of rot less than Jio and not. more than 50 to which may be sdflea imprisonment in the county Jail not exceeding 10 days. Each bass or wue gill caught, killed, pursued or possessed in violation of the act shall constitute a separate offense.

On next Sunday afternoon the Hammond K. o-f C.- will travel to T.ow.-il where they will piny the newly organized Lowell team tU!r first game of the season. While this game has been booked as a practice session, both managers will use the best available material on hand in an effort to start the season with a win. Lowell pro! ably has a little the edge as far as practice is concerned but Manager Helmbach of the local team pronilse.-i to put a team in the field that will put up a fight to the finish. Arrangements have boen made for a b!g but? to take the players and pospibly 10 or 15 fans, leavlnsr the K. of C. club rooms at 12:13 p. m. sharp. The bus will leave Lowell Immediately after the game. On Sunday. May 8, Hammond will play their opening game In the IC. of C. Suburban Leaguo at the Harrison Park diamond.
