CHANGE IN METHOD OF CALLING FROM HAMMOND TO CHICAGO To queckrn service between Hammond and Chicago, wc have arranged a new method of handling calls for "number only." Under the new plan, connection for "number only" in Chicago will be established by the Lxuil Operator in the Hammond Exchange, and such calls, therefore, will not go to the Long Distance Operator. This change will be effective Sunday, April 24th, 1921. After this date, when you call a "number only" in Chicago, give the number to the Local Operator as you would for a local call, then remain with the receiver to the car until the connection is established. EXCEPTION When a particular person is wanted or when a "collect" message or appointment call is desired, it will be necessary to ask for Long Distance as in the pas.
