not healthier to arise a few breaths of pure
Editor Times: Dear Sir Ilera is another appeal for Hammond to adopt the daylight savins plan. Why should a few grouchy people who are afraid they will loose an hour's sleep cause the whoie workingclass ol poople to loose the pleasure that extra hour In the evening (elves us. For those like myself that work In a store how nice to get home of the evening- to have our evening meal over and haye time to walk around and enjoy the out doors a few hours with our husbands or friends That extra hour of sleep in the morn-
lnr they seem to thing Is so
needed . ts it early and get
air than to lay and sleep. Suppose the kiddles do play marbled or ta5 an hour later. Are we all too old to remember -We were all kids once." Most of us have some one in the family that works in one of the surrounding towns, while they are home ot evening, we are still working. Let some of those people stand In a store all day and ee how fine it seems to get home before dark, they would then realize how much better It would be to
use the daylight saving P'n. , A CLERK IN ON-E OT THE! HAMMOXD STOftES. Editor of The Times: Would you be bo kind as to print th! letter in your paper. la reirards to the daylight savings I wl sk one question. Why do so many people favor daylight saving? 1 have been reading The Times every vninr. And it seems to me that the people in favor of it does not know what hard work is. In The Times of March J3. that party was more interted in the man that went to the movies once or twice a week and the girlies wweotheart than they were in the welfare of the working people. If these people were working 1n the shopa at piece work or time labor and were -giving a good days work for a good days pay. they would appreciate that cool hour sleep in the morning. Instead of getting up and working that hour In the morning, so as to have another hour pleasure In the evening. This daylight saving law was passed for two reasons. One for paving gas and electricity and the other was for working in the gardens. That was for a war measure. All they can think of now Is get an old Lizzie as soon a hubby can change and go. Hut we all are not fortunate enough to have on It seems to me that all some people have to do is sit around nnd think
of something to make life more miserable for the man that yet-s his brea't by the sweat of his brow. If people want daylight saving have them put it to the vote of the people. Yours truly A CONSTANT READER OF THE TIMES. Editor Times: Why does everyone think the clocks should be set ahead or keep old time. Just to adjust their family affa'rs. I notice In all your items on daylight savings no one seems to think that last
year any family had to have two clocks. Last year the railroals did not set their time ahead and that is the largest Industry in the country and I have three children in school and Tuid to send them by new time and the men to work In the afternoon until midnight by old time so I lost an hour's sleep as I g-uesji every other railroaders wife did, so lets have a turn about this summer, let Hammond lead the region back to srtandard time. INQUIRER.
Dear IJditor Times: A protest against daylight saving, as I myself have lived for 40 years under the old time and I know it Is all right to work by, any how I know that when Hammond was found it was also found under the old time. I am a Hammond booster and must say that if the factories want to go by daylight ,avlng time let the whistles "blow at f o'clock In place of 7. I myself think that this world can be arranged for every body and without forcing any body to sm foolish a thing as daylight saving whe-n it is impossible. Tours respectfully - A. TIMES REAPER AND A W OR JO Nil MAN.
