NOISE AND RELIGION The court of appeals In an Ohio county has ruled tiiat mere noise on the part cf a religious organization in its services does not constitute a cause for its abatement as a nuisance, and that no property rights are violated in the case of per?ois who fail to appreciate the at bursts of religiou? enthusiasm. At the University of Illinois i :s :(!.. Generally speaking, education at the big a.-tern schools comes eveu higher. T!ies figures, however, are merely a reflection of

exaggerated cost of living that this country has erg( no in the last five years. They should not be ou'raging to any young man or woman who has a de.-ite for a college education. At the- Kansas o agricultural college 4 5 per cent of the students entirely self-supporting last year; 11 per tent e partially self-dependent, and " per cent were Ing no part of their expenses. IMMIGRATION Commbssicner General of Immigration Husband has taken upon himself the task of trying to dhert Urge numbers of immigrants from the cities and industrial tenters to the agricultural regions of the United States, ivith the object of giving aliens a better opportunity hrui they would have iu the crowded sections. While there are no longer tracts of fertile government iand available to settlers, there is much that could be made productive by drainage or by irrigation, atid the government is proceeding to reclRim some of this land. Any plan for restricting immigration aid for selecting desirable newcomers to the United States would rip near to operate more effectively in the foreign ports than at Kills Tsland. Many aliens are refused admis-s-ion for various reasons, and they lose much and at disappointed by their failure to enter this ccuntry. No -miuigraAt should be permitted to sail for this country who cannot qualify for entrance. The departments cf the Interior, agriculture and labor are expected to co-operate with Commissioner Husband in his plan to divert immigrants to the farms. It Is a move that deserves to succeed.
