x Four men in a Boat T Rough water A tiny leak constantly growing arger What's to be done? r Energetic, intelligent and concerted action will save them all. The indifference and inaction of ONE of them may destroy ALU FOUR
It Couldn't Happen We've all heard the story of the sinking boat, in which one of the passengers is credited with saying: "Let 'er sink she doesn't belong to me!" It was funny and we all laughed at it We didn't imagine it COULD ever happen. Yet, here we are fourjn a boat and there's a LEAK and some one has been acting as if HE thought the boat didn't belong to HIM!
The water is DEEP and COLD. If ONE of the four goes ALL go! A LITTLE Leak, NOW Buying will STOP the LEAK. If we begin NOW. If we wait much longer the LEAK will get the best of us. And, fortunately or unfortunately, only ONE of the FOUR in the boat has the BUYING POWER with which to STOP the LEAK That ONE is YOU or ME.
Other Three Ready If we will just get to work with our BUYING POWER and stop the LEAK, the other THREE will get
busy, too, and do all of the other things that will bring the boat into smooth water and steady trade, winds into the safe Harbor of Prosperity! But, they can do nothing -UNTIL WE STOP THE LEAK! Prices DID Come Down Great volumes of business have leaked away BECAUSE lots of us have felt that; jprfocs were too high. We thought if we waited they would COME DOWN. And we figured if' we didn't buy . they'd HAVE to come down. We figured right. 1 They did comedown!
Who SOME ONE Is And that SOME ONE is YOU and ME who ought to be BUYING and thereby STOPPING the LEAK!
Cold and Deep This boat is OUR boat. We're all in it the manufacturer, the jobber, the retailer and YOU. And, if anything happens to the boat, it happens also to everybody in the boat. -

But, aren't they down about far enough? ? At least for the present? Isn't it about time to BEGIN stopping the LEAK? We don't want the boat to SINK! And we don't want the leak to get so BIG that we- can 't stop it. Wholesome Experience BUYING will save the ship! If the rough water we've traveled through has helped to bring us to a fairer scale of prices the experience has been wholesome. And it has likewise shown us how closely interwoven are our interests how much we DO depend upon one another for everything pertaining to our welfare. Manufacturer, jobber and retailer have reduced their prices as far as they can safely as far as they can and still remain in business at the present time. Further reductions may after all, be worse than the old HIGH prices for the farther down prices go, the surer it is that wages and salaries
must follow
Let's Save OURSELVES! So, if prices seem fairer and reasonable, all things considered, let's STOP the LEAK When we save the other three passengers, we save ourselves. What happens to the manufacturer, jobber and retailer, MUST happen to us, too! Lef a make it PLEASANT for our OWN sokes!
