DETHRONED SYRIAN KING SEEKING AID TO REGAIN THRONE
Give them a TurkiBh bat'a once In a while. Draw a tubful of scalding water In the bathroom and set the plants in the room to steam for half a day. At the end of a few hours open the door and allovv them to cool off gradually. Soma plants need a shower bath occasionally, if their foliage can stand spraying. Use an ordinary bat.1spray or set in the sink or tub and spray with a sprinkling can. Be sure that your houseplants have proper drainage it is as important as watering them. Loosen tiie soil around the roots, but not too near them, about once a week. Have a tiny forest of date palm, orange or lmon as a centerpiece for your table if you find ferns costly and perishable. Just plant the seeds of these various fruits thickly in a pot and they will prow, not rapidly, but surely. The tiny trees will be dwarfed from crowding and will grow densely and be colored a rich green. This Is a particularly good plan for a steam-heated apartment, where so few plants will live. Again the Card Catalog! - Keep one for aldresses personal and business. It is far more practical than the ordinary address book, as corrections are easily made. One section of the box may be used to keep a record of the birthdays of your friends, and another section to the gifts made by you and to you. This is an excel'ent way to avoid embarrassing mistakes by giving a friend tha same thing she has given you or bv repeating tie same present to the Fame person. A Drinking Cup for the Baby If the baby's hinds are too weak to hold an ordinary cup and still he insists on being treated like a tn-otv-n-up. glvo him a bullion cup. The two handles may both be grasped, and the cup conveyed
comfortably and safely to his mouth. Lingerie Ribbons To avoid We daily drudgery of running ribbons 'in your underwear, try this plan: When a garment is sent to the laundry, fasten a piece of tape to one eud with a stitch, then draw out the ribbon and pull the tape into its place. When the garment is washed, tacit the ribbon to the tape and pull it out, leaving the ribbon in place. If a little bow is just tacked onto your nightgown or chemise an 1 you do not want it washed, sew a snap fastener onto It and the other half onto the garment, so that it may be quickly snapped on or off. To make a dainty bow of ribbon, wind it in and out around two wooden pegs set just as .?,r apart, as the bow is to be wide, then tie the ends around the middle of the loops and slip off the pegs. If the tape slips out of your petticoat, put a stitch holding it to the casing in the middle of the front panel of your skirt and it will stay in plac. The Screens Tf they are rusty when you get them out in the Spring, clean them with kerosene, and when they are dry. paint them with black screen varnish, applying- a thin coat, so that you will not fill up the holes. Never brush them with a stiff brush, as thi3 makes them sag. Handkerchiefs When ironing the familv handkerchiefs, fold all that are good 6quare and those that are worn in a triangle, and you will save the members of your family a good deal of embarrassment. To Keep Bread Fres Place a raw porsto in your bead box. This will prevent the bread from retting drv or mouldy. To Clarify Dripoings Put a pinch of ginger into the hot fat.
