FPECIAL TO THE T1VES1 WHITING. Ind.. Feb. 14. A most notable victory was gained by the Whiting Owls at Whiting on Saturday night in a game that will go down In the annals of basketball as one of tho greatest exhibition of the indoor sport
ever pulled off ;n this section of th j country. The Chicago Uig "V weri the victims of the vicious onslaught of I the Owls, but to them must be given j credit for tho part they tok in the ' greatest of frames? The bull-dog i tenacity of h uh teams was aimirabl: j'fnm a spc:ctat"i-'s point of view, and j neither team had the edge on the other utilil late in the second half, when by I a series of so:ne of the prettiest teamwork and passing ever seen In any game, the Owls taged three in a row which had their effect upon the morale of the Chicago " V." To Earl Watson goes Ihe lion's .-ihare of the honors for the evening. Although closely guarded and hard played from the start by the entire Chicago team, this sterling little forward came through in great shape and has earned for himself t ) honor of ranking high among the top- ' notchers of nil position. Ills baskcrs. 1 seven in all and eight free throws were largely responsible for the defeat of the visitors. However, teh entire Whiting team must be given cerdit for they played hard and fought their heavier and mor' experienced opponents to a standstill. There remains no further doubt In the minds of AYhltingites as 'to the worth of that crack pair of guards Watson and Stock, who were responsible for stoTplng the greatest scoring combination the game has ever known, Johnson, Feeny, Griesel and Elliott. Fotter, though he did not come through with his usjal number of baskets proved his worth to the team, time after time, by his great floo rwork and stopping the "Rig Swede" and his tetrt mates in their spurts which threatened disaster for the local five. The eyes of all the fans were fastened at the pivot position were K;ony rated as the king pin of all centres fought it out with Mastney, who played the best g"ame a' his career and was largely responsible J .for breaking thj team play of the Big1 Five which has in the past been noted , as nothing short of marvelous. Tti local man had the better of the argu- j ment from the tjo. All told, the same was one cf the fastest and best played that has ever been seen in Whiting and now that the Big "V" have been beaten in the firs, game, all fans 'ire looking forward to the 26th of February, when a return engagement will be played on the local floor. To Coach Hart the Owls must be given a large amount of credit for the ownderful victory of the club team. His system of offense and defense made it possible for the local five to prevail in every department of the caged sport, notning the former U. S A. A. U. champs having to offer being too much for the Owls to solve; the result of care.ful coaching on the part of this sterling mentor. The score: Onl. B. F. T. T. 7 1 2 3 0 10 2 0 0 0 Watson, rf. BY JIMMIK HAY. WHITING. In.!.. Feb. At the Slo vak Home in Whiting this evening fight fan will R-r.t an eyeful of good honest to goodness fighting. Every number on the card has at least on" fighter that !s noted, for his slugging, and in most casts two such fighters have been matcned. Fight fans like to see fast work when coupled with a punch. Such a fight will be the windup. In Koseland they thiifk that Morrie Johnson is the berries. Nothing els" will do. 'Morrie although able to make 133 pounds will meet Jimmy Brady fli. 135. But Morrie is not afraid of anyone at this weight or even of the welters. He has lots of speed and can hit like a whale. His friends In Roseland and elsewhere are so confident of his beating Jimmy Brady that they are willing to stacK their all. But Jimmy Brady is no newcomer in the game. He 's fast and while not the slugger that Johnson is will offset this asset of Johnson's by superior footwork and by his speed. One of the funny things said by rival managers i.t,hat their pets will show ttoo manv gloves for his opponent. IJrady has managed to win his fights by his spei d and if he boats Johnson tonight it wti; be because of that.

It is so small that you can keep it in your apartment does not take up much more space than a . sewing machine. Mounted on casters and can be pushed about with less effort than is required to move a sewing machine. It seems almost too good t be true. Therefore we want you to see it in operation.
