Following the luncheon, the guests were again loaded in machines and taken to the plant of the Indiana, Steel company, considered one of thlargest steel plants in the world. Hero they were loaded into a special train, donated through the courtesy of the general superintendent of the plant. "W. P. Gleason. This trip, which conrumed over two hours, enabled the honored guests, to view one of the most interesting things that probably they will never have the opportunity . f again seeing. The honored guests were first shown the workings of the coko ovens, then on to the blast furnaces, open hearth departments, wheel department and then to the rail department. They also passed through thi large immense power house, and there were shown how the vast plant is supplied with p.iwer. Owing to the lateness cf the hour, the trip to the rod mill waa post poned. AT HAMMOND COUNTRY CLUB Following the inspection of the sWt plant, the machines were turned in the direction of Hammond and the Hammond Country club, where supper had teen prepared. There another hearty meal was enjoyed; after which dancing held the balance of the evening. One of the most Interesting points In the evening's festivities occurred when A. M. Turner, president of the First National bank, requested the solons and guests of the house to stand In honor of Indiana's first woman member of the legislature, Mrs. Julia D. Nelson of Muncie, Ind. Mrs. Nelson in a few brief words thanked the members of the legislature for their kind consideration and for their treatment of the first woman legislaturer !n the house and requested that should any mistakes occur, that tho members of the legislature and the public In general, overlook this point, as there would be many protests made should a mistake occur on her part, she being the first woman voter of Indiana to be elected to a state office.
