HEAL ANYWAY, Arthur Johnson, who resides some-wher-2 in the nelghborhoiwl of Green street, Chicago, came to Kart Chlcatn last evening ostensively for the purpose of securing a good meal at soup line prices. Walking in to the Paris cafe on Forsyth avenue Arthur set him wlf down to a table, and in soft spoken words Informed a waiter that he wanted a meal, the best in the house. The waiter handing Johnson a bill of fare, suggested that ham and eggs would make a very appropriate meal to which Arthur readily consented. After much deliberation upon the finishing of the meal and with the check calling for the payment of RO cents, grasped tightly in his hand, Arthur walked over to where the cashier has headqunrK rs and requested that he be given a cigar. The cashier always willing to do all in her power for the Interest of the cafe, handed the cigar to Johnson, who after lighting it made for the dour. Gary Man Suffers an

Starts Panic Among Guests of South Shore Hotel at Harbor With blood streaming down his face, and Kh two iron rods removed from a bed grouped in either hand, a man who is believed to be Georg Vukovtch, of Gary, almost, started a panic among the aruests of the South Shore Hotel last flddnlght. Vukovich. came to East Chicago last evening and registered at tho Hotel about 10 o'clock, going almost lmmedia.ely up to his room. About 11:30 the guests, heartn-g sounds like the barking of a dog, arose from their beds and switched on the lights, when they perceived the shadow of a man, thrown uron the wall. Screams and yells were heard from rooms occupied by a number of nurses, who havn been working on the small-pox epidemic. Clothes were hastily .lumped Into and even sheets wt re pressed into perlvce. Then one of tho nurses, ch.-vnred to think of the police department and sent in an alarm. Within 3 minutes. Officers Maha, Petro. Titjani and Parent! were on the scene and within 10 shakes of a doad lambs tell. Vukovich was behind the bars at the Central Station, panting like a mad do.g. It is thought that Vukovich, who is said to bo wanted by the (iary police, worried over the possibility of being placed under arrest, which resulted in the loss of his mind. The bedroom wherein. Vukovich had been thinking of spending the night, almost a total wreck. The mattress and springs had been torn off, while both of the rods were broken. It is not yet known how he managed to injure himself, as no weapons were found upon Ms person.
