Miss Edith Ellsworth has been unable to attend to her duties at the N. i. O. & E. 4'o.. for the past week on account of illness. Mrs. J. L. Hess has been quite sick but is somewhat better at present. Mrs. W. Patterson was a Hammond visitor Thursday. Mrs. O. Proescho'.d spent Tuesday in Chicago on a thopping tour. Mra. W. KanslielJ and Miss Lora f-hay spent Friday with Mrs. R. (Brown end family of Hammond. Tarent Teachers association met at the HesevlUe school Thursday evening and after the opening remarks by the chairman, Mr. Patterson, a splendid talk on 'Food" was given by Mr. f.okea of Hammond. He discourtr. d on the present day adulteration of our necessary commodities of food; impressing: upon those present the urgknt need of purer, fresher food stuffs, U' we wish our children to receive, the real benefits of life that are their just heritage. Mr. Nokcs was accompanied by his wife and two daughters, pne of thich gave a very good exhibition of modern elocution. The program wound up with an old fashioned spelling bee. which was participated in by most everyone present, and surely was enjoyed by aU. L'ght refreshments were served in the domestic science room. Next mectinj wli , be h"ld the first Thursday in February. A Parent Teachers meeting wil; be held at the Woodrow Wilson school, Ilcssville. formerly known as Saxony, Wednesday .evening Jan. 12.
