Miss Helen Dow and ker moaot. Misa Helen Dow of Douiaa connty, Colorado, is the only wwna "lookout" in the services of the U. S. forest serrice. This courepeoaa little lady is the observer at Devil's Head Fire Leokeut, a position aha has held since 1919. Part of Miss Dow's job is to split her own fire-f wood, pack her drinking water several miles up the mountain side and' keep a watchful eye on the surrounding country. Miss Dow is twentyfour years old and before entering the forest service worked in the art department of the Rocjcy Mountain News.
