(Strict Anti-Revolver Ordinl ance is Passed by East Chicago Aldermen J. A. Burns of Indiana Harbor, for h pt faw years president of Common Council, was re-elected last ver.Ing; it the meeting of Common Council. 'Alderman J. IV. Max-well also of Indiana Harbor, who opposed Mr. Eurna received three, votea. Aldarman Bert H. Petersen -was unanimously alerted president pro-tern, and was riven a hearty reception following th meeting-. Mr. Peterson has 4ena splendid work since he, was eleried to tho Aldermanie ranks, which reiiulted in his election last evening. UTOLTIB OBDINANCI PASSED After many lengthy discussions upon the part of Councilmen and business men, the ordinance prohibiting: the ealc of revolvers, blackjacks cr any other .cieath dealing weapon without a permit from the Board of Public Safety was adopted on Its third reading. The ordinance also prohibits the display of fevolvers, and other weapons In show windows or other public points of iw, under a penalty of not loss than ISO. Tha same penalty is applied to Ibosa who cell revolvers and other weapons without being tendered a permit Issued by the Board of Safety, it is BaUeved that with the passing of this ordinance much crme in East Chicago will be suppressed. An appropriation ordinance calling for J1.5T4 for sewerage disposal also met with favorable action by council. asxs rom. $50,000 TV. J. A. Teegarden. secretary of the Roard of HeaJth. petitioned council to eppropriate the sum of JiO.OOO, the sum to be used In whole or in part, for the successful fighting of the smallpox rpidemic. A vote among the councilmen showed 11 in favor of granting the raeney with one against it. Alderman Paul Myall wy of the second ward, who opposed the passage, was bitterly criticised by the president of the council and a number of business men who wer present.
