NOTICE is hereby ven to the Tax Payers of Hammond, Indiana, that I have received the Tax Duplicate of .aid city for the year 1920 and that I will be at the Treasurer's office in Hammond, Indiana, for the purpose of receiving the taxes now due upon said duplicate. The following table exhibits the rate of taxation oi each $100 valuation in the Corporate City of Hammond. Indiana, according to the levy passed by the Common Council of the City of Hammond, Indiana, September 8, 1920. SECTION1 II There is hereby levied the following amounts for the year 1920 on each one hundred dollars of the assessed valuation of the property of the City of Hammond, as returned for taxation by the township assessor, and equalized by the Board of Review and State Board of Tax Commissioners, for the objects and purposes hereinafter named to-wit:

FOR GENERAL PURPOSES $ .55 FOR BONDS AND INTEREST AND NOTES .05 FOR WATER, TAXES AND RENTS 04 FOR STREET LIGHTING 05 FOR LIBRARY PURPOSES 038 FOR PARK PURPOSES 027 FOR POLICE PENSION FUND. 0025 FOR FIREMEN'S PENSION FUND 0025 FOR IMPROVEMENT CERTIFICATES AND INTEREST 01 TOTAL LEVY $ .7700

SECTION III There shall be levied a poll tax of One Dollar on each male inhabitant of the City, sane and not a paupr, between the ages of 21 and 50 years. SECTION IV This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage. Taxes for Year 1920 must be paid in full at any time between Jan. 1st and 1st Monday In May 1921 Inclusive. 4V If die taxes have not been paid as provided then the same become delinquent and ten per cent, penalty is added to same, if not then paid in full by the First Monday of the following November six per cent, additional penalty will be added. City orders issued to persons owing delinquent taxes will be paid .only on settlement of such taxes. All persons are cautioned against dealing in such Warrants as they buy them sub ject to tax. It is the duty of all taxpayers to state particularly on what property he wished to pay and in whose name assessed. All taxes are according to law, payable in person, at the office provided by the city for that purpose. The treasurer, however, will send statements of taxes when applied for in time if full description of property is given, in whose name assessed, where located and stamp enclosed for reply. Payments may then be made by postoffice money order or bank draft. Hie city is interested in all penalties for failure to pay by days fixed by law as above, and insists that they be collected and holds the city treasurer personally liable for amount of same. The tax payer will take notice at this time that in compliance with statutory requirements the Tax Duplicate of the City of Hammond for the year 1920 will be closed and returned to the City Controller as to the city taxes, promptly on the evening of first Monday of May, 1921, and that penalty will be added to taxes paid thereafter. Read the City Controller's list of delinquent property offered for sale for taxes on second Monday of February, 1921. To prevent sale do not wait until the last day, but make payment in advance and avoid error. Every resident between the ages of 21 and 50 years must pay poll tax. Do not ask us to make or hold receipts for future payments. There are good reasons why we must refuse. Copies of this notice may be had on application. See that you have paid on all your property before you leave the Treasurer's Office. Walter F. Bielefeld, CITY TREASURER, HAMMOND, IND.
