SANTA CLAUS
North Pole. December 20, 1920. Mr. Walter B.elefeldt. City Treasurer, Hammond, Ind. Dear Friend Walt:' Your letter asking for so many things came to me yesterday. You're just like all of the rest of the politicians they want a copy of my special book on "Sure Way to Get Votes." Really, I was going to take good care of you, but wasn't going to leave this book for you because (and I'm going to be honest with you) I don't think you need it. However, if you do get a copy of it, you can possibly let some of your friends use it, at some future time. Say, Walt, I wish you'd slip in and speak to Bill Hastings and remind him of his promise to me about helping me Christmas Eve; you see Bill promised he'd help me distribute a lot of Nuts, Chocolates, Bon Bons and Taffy from the Hammond Candy Co., and I'll tell you I don't want him to forget, because, believe me, I've got some load of sweets. Oh! yes, kindly tell Charlie See, the copper, to be out at Wolf Lake Christmas Eve about eleven o'clock, as I will have my reindeers scoop down to the ice, and I will help him into my private sleigh. You see, I want him to help me hu3t!e some of F. C. Miller's White Sewing Machines that I have to give away to some of the good women this year. Well, Walter, the time for me to start on my annual trip around the world is short; on Friday night I start about nine o'clock, and from then on until daylight I'll be leaving presents for all who have been good. Tell your little girl and boy friends to go to bed early Christmas Eve and not to peek. Goodbye, 1 SANTA CLAUS. P. S. Walt, I think I paid my taxes on my house made of ice, but do I have to pay any taxes on my reindeer pasture?
