GARY GOES OVER QUOTA Gary hit the 13.000 mark in the recent r.ed Cross roll call drive according to Roll Call Director Robert PhilHps in an interview this morning. Membership and contributions are still com'ng in. JS3 being received yesterday from two different organizations in the city. These late contributions will put Gary well over her quota.
Will Soon Open Broadway to Traffic With but a few minor details to complete on the construction of the south Tiroadway paving contract between Wabash and the Pennsylvania tracks, the new concrete stretch will soon be thrown open to traffic according to City Engineer Cottingham yesterday.

POSTPONE WRIT CASE TODAY The "Wirt divorce case which was set for hearing in the Porter county circuit court at Valparaiso today has been postponed for an indefinite time ;cording to attorneys in the case this morning. It is understood that tioth c;des have agreed to the continuance snd that the case will be settled out of court. Mrs. Wirt charged that Mr. Wirt hai deserted her; that he had gone to his farm near Syracuse, N. ., and was living with another woman there. Mr. Wirt flltfd a number of counter charges. The settlement of the case will spare Gary the tedious trial of a case which had been dragged out to tiresome length during Us early stages.

Gary and Hobart Get New Fire Trucks Gary's new fS.SO'i combination truck and chemiral machine arrived last night and will be added to the ttro fighting apparatus of the Central Station No. 1 Just as soon as It is given a tuning up. The old chemical wagon used at Station No. 1 will be taken to station No. 2 and the cne in use at No. 2 will be put into operation at Miller. The new fire trhek for Hobart also arrived with the Gary shipment and will be taken to Hoba.-: before the end of the week

Muster in New Gary Company Tonight Under the command of Captain J. T. fichless Gary's new battalion of National Guard engineers will be mustered in by Major J. A. Umpleby this evening, who has been appointed by adjutant general Harry H. Smith to act as master of ceremonies. There will be in the neighborhood of 90 men in the command and wiil take their federal oath sometime about the first cf the year.
DAMAGE IN WIND STORM CHICAGO. Dec. 14. Extensive damage was done In Chicago and vicinity early today by a wind and rain storm that swept over Wisconsin and northern Illinois. The wind reached a velocity of 40 miles an hour at 7 o'clock this morning. Officials of the telegraph snd telephone companies reported wires down in many sections and telegraphic communication with New York and other eastern points was badly interrupted.
